Agenda:
The focus for this chapter meeting will be the DAMA-DMBOK area of practice, Data Architecture, Analysis & Design providing attendees an overview of the area of practice as well as an example of information related deliverables in their data architecture. The final speaker, from a complimentary discipline, will talk about the Business Analyst professional organization.

Additionally, we will be holding elections for two board member positions. Participating on the board level of this chapter offers a data management professional the opportunity to both help their chosen profession, gain leadership experience, and have a high-profile association with one of the oldest and most respected DAMA chapters in the United States. Overview of Data Architecture

Data Architecture is the design of data for use in defining the target state and the subsequent planning needed to hit the target state. Data Architecture is one of the pillars of Enterprise Architecture and should be aligned with the pillars of Business Architecture, Application Architecture and Integration Architecture. This overview presentation will explain Data Architecture, describes how data is processed, stored, and utilized in a given system. This presentation will demonstrate that data architecture provides criteria for data processing operations that make it possible to design data flows and also control the flow of data in the system. An overview of the role of a data architect and the importance of meta data management and data governance will also be included.

Mr. Ray Siguenza has over 26 years of experience in the delivery of mission based solutions, the deployment of Centers of Excellence (COE), and Business Process Management. He has managed deployment of large mission critical improvements for both government (NASA, DoVA, NAVY, FBI) and private sector agencies and is an advocate of value-based business practices (such as IIBA, Six Sigma and COEs). He has deployed and led COEs, authored repeatable processes and aligned silo practices into end-to-end value streams. Ray is the new elected IIBA-DC President, a Sr. Manager for Business Process at Freddie Mac, and also provides mentor and consulting services on the deployment of COEs and Practice/Process Deployment/Documentation.

Andrew Blumenthal is Director of Enterprise Architecture and Strategic Planning at the United States Coast Guard. Previously, he served as Chief Enterprise Architect at the United States Secret Service. Blumenthal is an IT and business leader with 20 years of progressive experience at premier organizations in the public and private sectors, including The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, The U.S. Department of the Treasury, The Dreyfus Corporation, and IBM.

Mr. Blumenthal holds an MBA and BBA and is a Certified Enterprise Architect (CEA) and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He specializes in the implementation of best-practice information technology and management solutions. He has authored articles published in Government Executive, Journal of Enterprise Architecture, and Architecture & Governance, and has a daily blog on User-centric Enterprise Architecture at usercentricea.blogspot.com.

Anne Marie Smith, Ph.D. is Director of Education and Principal Consultant at EWSolutions ( http://www.ewsolutions.com ). Anne Marie has over 20 years experience in information management for several corporate entities and has successfully led the development of data resource management departments within corporations and consulting organizations.

Anne Marie is active in DAMA ( http://www.dama.org  ), serves on the board of directors of DAMA International, and is an advisor to the DM Forum. She has been an instructor of Management Information Systems (MIS) with Philadelphia, PA area colleges and universities. Anne Marie has taught topics such as: data stewardship and governance, data warehousing, business requirements gathering and analysis, metadata management and metadata strategy, information systems planning and data warehouse project management. Anne MarieÍs areas of consulting expertise include metadata management including data stewardship and governance, information systems planning, systems analysis and design, project management, data warehouse systems assessment and development, information systems process improvement and information resource management/data resource management.

Anne Marie holds the degrees Bachelor of Arts and a Master's of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from La Salle University; she has earned a PhD in MIS at Northcentral University. She is a certified logical data and process modeler and holds project management certification.
